G'Day from Steve

Image

If my People.

If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14

At every concert at the moment we are taking some time to pray for Australia and the federal elections in a week. Much of modern politics is more about manipulation and witchcraft than it is about God anointed leadership. Yet we have the freedom to elect the people we believe will lead our nation in the right way. In humility, in justice, mercy and wisdom.

The greatest form of leadership is to serve with a humble heart and always put the interests of others above your own agenda. Jesus went to the Cross to show us the ultimate example of humble leadership. He laid down His life that we may have life. He took the weight of our sins and made a way for us to have peace with God with the assurance of eternal life. I love it.

Thanks for taking some time every day to pray for these elections.

Godspeed,

Steve

Thank You Digby

Thanks to many of you for praying for each of our team on this tour. Everyone is working extremely hard to keep the show on the road and the schedule this past week has been very demanding. 8 events in 7 days. Evening concerts and lunch time High School concerts keep the whole team focussed on the mission. Digby Ho Leong from PNG is working tirelessly to keep the sound production at its best. We have had to take a step of faith and purchase a 32 channel mixing console as the one we were using was borrowed. This is a $3,000+ outlay but we believe it is important to have the best sound when you are presenting the best message in the world!!

Thanks again for praying for Digby and his family back at home in Port Moresby.

The Gin Gin concert last week was held in a historic old building now transformed into the local church. Heavy lightning storms hit the town late in the afternoon and continued on all night. The noise from the rain on the corrugated iron roof made it difficult to communicate but the locals still greatly appreciated the efforts of the entire team. 2 men committed their lives to Christ. It was a long night as the region recorded it's heaviest rainfall in one night since 1887!! But we survived along with all the equipment in the truck, which we were able to find shelter for overnight.

Heritage Tour Update

Our Bundaberg concert at the Heritage Christian Centre was an amazing night. The church was packed to capacity and the audience greatly appreciated the entire event.
We were so encouraged by the support of Pastor Errol and Sue Buckle and their team. It was an amazing midweek event and we praise the Lord for the enthusiastic response from many people after the event. The band is starting to really lock in with the songs now and we are getting excited for the weeks ahead.

The Hervey Bay concert was also very well attended last Saturday night and again many decisions were made to follow Christ. Ps Julie Terry and her team did a great job hosting the team and organising the event. Thanks so much.

Gympie last night also amazed us as the High School Hall filled up with a large crowd. People of all ages attended and we are greatly encouraged by the overall response and feedback from audiences.

Motorcycle inventor and Pastor

Our concert in the town of Childers this past week was a wonderful night of ministry. Sadly many of the young people who turned up were drunk, but at least they were there. Many were grieving the death of an 18 year old friend who had died in a drink driving accident the week before. Their only escape from the pain and loss was to ironically fill themselves with the very substance that caused his death. A number of them stood to pray and ask the Christ to be Lord of their lives. We were able to distribute Bibles to them as well. Pastor Nigel Allwood from the Hope Christian Outreach Centre with his wife Joanne did an amazing job hosting the concert. Thanks so much. The following morning I was able to take his two wheeled invention, a lightweight 80cc commuter bike for a ride. What a blast!! An incredible little machine.

New vehicle for the tours ahead

Image

Pictured: The 2009 Pajero ready to get going on the Heritage Tour.

Yesterday we took delivery of the 2009 Mitsubishi Pajero that the ministry has leased for the coming years. It is a beautiful vehicle with low mileage, ready for some long distances.
After much prayer we sensed the it was time to launch out into the deep and trust the Lord for the finances for a vehicle that would be reliable and efficient. Thanks to many who have seen the need and importance for good transportation as we embark into a full season of evangelism. We know our God will supply as we continue to serve in this kingdom work.

Update on our broken Pajero..... Please pray that we will be able to get the engine repaired under the warranty that we had with the replacement engine.  The vehicle is still in a Mitsubishi dealership workshop in Warwick QLD with the engine dismantled. Believing for a miracle with the warranty claim.

Resource Table - Heritage Tour

We praise the Lord for the sales of CD's during the past week. This will all help to pay the bills as we travel but more importantly this music is going out there into people's homes and cars and communicating the good news. So we praise God for every CD sale.

Missions Expo report

The Missions Expo is finally taking shape with banners from a number of organisations now on display at every concert. It is attracting plenty of attention before, during and after each event. It is not too late for any other organisations to get involved as we believe God will use the EXPO to inspire many into missions and training programs that empower people for the Great Commission. Our whole team seem to be getting excited about meeting people and handing out brochures and information. Thanks to all who have supported this important aspect of the Heritage Tour.

High School Ministry

The team had had some amazing opportunities to present the Gospel at lunch time concerts in local High Schools during the past week.
In some schools the teachers commented that they have never seen the students so attentive as the guys ministered. We know the Lord's hand is on every one of these events and ask you to pray for the team. For physical stamina, for finances and for the right words that reflect the Father's heart for young people and draw the youth into a greater desire for Christ.

Heritage Tour - Outback Skies TV Vision

From Richard:

We had a great week filming with Steve and the team in Bundaberg, Childers and Hervey Bay.

Praise report for the wonderful stories that we had the opportunity to film:

  • the Bert Hinkler Aviation story,
  • the Florence Young abolition of Australian Slave Trade story – where a descendent of the original slaves arrived out of the blue as we were filming and shared his testimony with us,
  • the Arthur Clarke artistic woodcarving story of the Great Barrier Reef,
  • the Childers motorbike story where Nigel Allwood showed us a little city motorbike he invented and built from scratch,
  • the Whale Watching story at Hervey Bay. The entire week of filming was a breeze and many many great stories unfolded before us. Nine of us went whale watching in Hervey Bay for free!
  • the relationships and interactions of the touring team, their trials and triumphs, and the ongoing sense of adventure and teamwork that is building in the team.

Prayer for this project is the most important element of all:

  • ongoing protection and guidance for our entire production team. We now have a team of 7 people working on Outback Skies on a shoestring budget. We need ongoing cohesion and the favour of God and the favour of man.
  • ongoing protection for all of our families as they are at home without us, and as we sacrifice income that would help us to support them.
  • ongoing protection for all of our equipment as we travel to diverse destinations.
  • ongoing provision of cars, flights, equipment and teaching as we progress.

I’d like to thank Steve, Kerrie and the team for allowing us to capture their journey on this Heritage Tour.

We are constantly encouraged by some amazing letters in the mail from people who have been blessed by the ministry. As many of you pray regularly for our work we wanted you to also partner in the blessing of these letters. Thank you to each of you who take the time to communicate with us about what God is doing in your life. We really are encouraged by your words.
